Ann D. Cantone, 88, of Camp Hill, died Friday, March 2, 2007 at home, surrounded by her family and much appreciated Pinnacle Health Hospice workers.
Born in Scranton, PA to the late Thomas and Sara D'Oro, Sicilian immigrants, she was preceded in death by sisters, Angela Jovine and Jo Prince.
Ann graduated from Scranton Tech in 1936. She worked for IBM and was transferred to Harrisburg. Downey and Ben Franklin Schools and students were blessed when she worked for the Harrisburg School District as a Teacher's Aide. She was President of three PTA's: Allison Grade School, Edison Jr. High and John Harris High School.
She joined her husband as members of Susquehanna Y's Mens Club and PARSE. For 27 years, she served with love at Cantone's Restaurant where "Mrs. C" was known for her sauces, desserts and hospitality.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, serving in various ways including Sunday School Superintendent and lector organizer. She was Mother of the Year twice. She loved the Lord, her family and friends, feeling blessed and living with JOY: Jesus first, others second and yourself last.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Louis and four children, Lois Ann Griffiths and husband Douglas of Harrisburg; Sadie Pounder and husband Michael of Gettysburg, PA; Nick Cantone and Daris Cirillo of Harrisburg; and Thomas Cantone and wife Anissa of Noank, CT; thirteen grandchildren, Tamika, Shane and Chad Griffiths; Michael, David, Tom and Joe Pounder, Nicole, Nick and Tony Cantone and Brooke, Marc and Tessa Cantone; sixteen great-grandchildren, Tamika and Bill's children, Shayna, Mya and Talya Macfarlane; Shane and Tammy's children, Mason and Jordyn Griffiths, and Chad and Linda's child, Gabriele Griffiths; Mike and Tracy's children, Madelynn, Katie, and Sarah Pounder; Dave and Anne's children, Evan and Matt Pounder; Tom and Anne's children, Reiley, Grace and Ella Pounder; and Nicole's children, Alexis Cantone and Noah Hoffman.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at 11 a.m. in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial in East Harrisburg Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Fackler-Wiedeman Funeral Home, 23rd and Derry Streets, Harrisburg. A funeral reception will be hosted at Cantone's Restaurant, 4701 Fritchey Street, Colonial Park from 1 to 4 p.m. on Thursday. ALL ARE WELCOME!
